Molly

Molly The American Girl doll
Molly McIntire, the American Girl doll, represents a young girl in the year 1944 when the world is at war. Her Dad, a doctor, like most men have gone off to war. He is in England and Molly along with her Mom, sister and brothers miss him very much.
Without her Dad, her life has changed in many ways. The war means everyone has to try to change some of their ways so they can support the men and women who are fighting.
Molly and her brother play tricks on each other, each trying to outdo the other. Their mom gets annoyed with their persistence to continue the tricks and reminds them that wars start when someone has to get someone else back.
The year 1944 was when Americans wanted to get the Japanese back because the Japanese had bombed Pearl harbor. Molly’s mom instructed her children to see that a war among siblings was not the proper way to live. That cooperation and getting along are far more important.
War effects the people at home in many ways. Molly’s story tells the story of how people at home had to change some of their ways and how they helped the men and women fighting in far away places.
